Redwater was a busy place on August 14 and 15 as residents came together to celebrate
Discovery Days with a full weekend of activities, entertainment and community events.
The festivities got underway Friday with the bench show at Pembina Place, followed by the
opening of the ball tournament and a movie in the park.
Saturday brought a full day of activities, beginning with the Lions’ pancake breakfast before the
Discovery Days parade made its way through town at 11 a.m.
This year’s parade theme, “Sweet Treats on Main Street,” brought plenty of creativity to the
floats, with candy, smiles and plenty of community spirit filling the morning.
Judges had a difficult time selecting winners in the five parade categories. Overtime Sports
Lounge took home Best Theme, while the Redwater Public Library was named Most Creative.
Redwater Swimming Pool won Best Group Participation, Little Steps Daycare was awarded Best
Overall and Theo’s Pharmacy received the Judges’ Choice award.
The celebrations continued throughout the afternoon with the sandwich and pie sale at the Pioneer
Club, Rainbow the Clown and Friends, a car wash and shine, the bench show, farmers’ market,
petting zoo, iPlay Game Theatre and inflatables.
The ball tournament also continued throughout the day, while food trucks and the arena
concession provided plenty of options for hungry festival-goers.
The weekend wrapped up with fireworks at 9:45 p.m., giving the community one final
opportunity to gather and celebrate.
Discovery Days once again offered something for all ages, bringing residents together for a
weekend filled with local activities, entertainment and community pride.
