Newbrook Public Library recently hosted its first ever Princess and Superhero
Tea Party, marking a unique day for Newbrook Library. While the library is no stranger to
having its space invaded by less-than-quiet events, it was transformed into an
enchanting space, bursting with excited children and their families. Over a dozen young
guests arrived dressed in sparkling princess gowns, tiaras, and shimmering capes,
while others donned the unmistakable red and blue of Spiderman, each one eager to
match their favourite superhero.
The tea party hosted professional entertainers from A Charmed Affair, an
Edmonton-based group known for their interactive character performances. These
talented entertainers brought beloved princesses and superheroes to life, captivating
the young group (and their parents) with engaging crafts and games and imaginative
activities. The children were eager to participate their laughter ringing through the library
as their imaginations came to life, becoming the heroes and heroines of their fantasies.
A Charmed Affair came well prepared with stories and superhero training…but the little
guests had them so wrapped up in other activities that they ran out of time for
everything. Maybe they will have to come back next year to complete the training.
No tea party would be complete without a delectable spread, and Newbrook
Library delivered in style. The tables were elegantly adorned with a selection of sweet
and savory treats and goodies. Little paper teacups and Spiderman-themed dishes
added a whimsical touch, ensuring each child found something to enjoy. The sight of the
young guests carefully sipping their tea and sampling treats was a dreamlike
experience.
Throughout the afternoon, the library was filled with playful princess poses,
heroic web-slinging, and endless photo opportunities. Many parents expressed their
gratitude for the chance to create magical memories with their children in such a way. It
was a celebration of imagination and a wonderful opportunity for families to spend the
afternoon together.
