The Newbrook 4-H Club has kick started the year again

Our club continues to grow, we have just over 50 members!
In October we held our first general meeting. Members got to discuss the
types of projects they are interested in. Projects offered this year will be
beef, swine, poultry, equine, foods, sewing, and cleavers.
At the meeting, members got to vote for their executive team. This year our
President is Jake Shwetz, Vice President – Willow Lyons,
Secretary – Makenna Ollikka, and Treasurer Maddox Day.
Jocelyn Toronchuk gets to be our General Leader.
Some projects are under way and started already.
Beef had their weigh in day at Andy & Shawnalee Shwetz’s farm. It was a
great day. Members all participated in sorting the animals off the trailers,
guiding them along in alley, putting them in the shoot for tagging and
weighing a loading them back on the trailer. We weighed close to 50
animals that day!
Equine met at the beginning of November for their first ride. Members got to
saddle their horses and do a little bit of riding and getting to know
everyone.
Foods and Sewing will be starting soon this month with their activities as
well.
Poultry and Swine usually doesn’t start until the new year when members
get their animals.
I look forward to keeping you update on what’s happening in our club
throughout the year along with my other club reporter buddies.
Bye for now!
Alyssa Ollikka
