Grab a plant, dessert, or a coffee..

Thorhild Public Library was buzzing with excitement as it prepared to welcome
the arrival of spring and beautiful weather with its highly anticipated Annual Plant Sale &
Exchange Fundraiser. The event offered a delightful opportunity for gardening
enthusiasts to explore a diverse selection of flowers, vegetables, and herbs available for
purchase. The proceeds from the plant sale contribute to funding essential library
programming and supplies, further enriching the community’s access to valuable
resources and activities.
One of the highlights of the event was the plant exchange, a unique opportunity
for plant enthusiasts to diversify their collections. Participants could bring their own
plants and swap them with others, expanding their garden variety and fostering a sense
of camaraderie among fellow gardeners. This interactive part of the event was a hit, with
attendees engaging in lively conversations and sharing their love for plants. This also
opened the door to discussions on preferred gardening methods and tips on garden
pest management strategies.
The Annual Plant Exchange & Sale decided to switch things up this year.
Instead of their usual offering of traditional strawberry shortcake, they treated guests to
a delightful strawberry trifle paired with a choice of coffee or juice. Youth and senior
volunteers greeted guests with smiles and plates piled with the delicious mix of summer
flavors, the strawberries bursting with flavor, enhanced by the vanilla cake and pudding,
topped off perfectly with whipped cream.
As the plant exchange and sale progressed, the plant tables gradually lightened,
and fewer potted plants were available for purchase, but the atmosphere continued to
brighten. Guests arrived bearing clippings from their own house plants for the
exchange, engaged in lively conversations and enjoyed the afternoon with friends at the
outdoor tables or escaping the heat in the coolness of the library.
The Thorhild Public Library would like to express its immense gratitude to all the
individuals who took the time to visit and show their support at our annual fundraiser.

The library thanks Erdmann’s Gardens & Greenhouses for their donation of a flower
planter and the Kindness Counts Community Group for making the trifles. They are also
deeply thankful to the dedicated volunteers whose hard work and commitment make
events like this possible.
