In a joyous commemoration of National Indigenous People’s Day, Redwater School joined hands with students from Ochre Park last week. The day began with a delightful school-wide feast featuring delicious soup and bannock, fostering a sense of togetherness and unity. The highlight of the event was an awe-inspiring keynote presentation delivered by Curt Young, accompanied by mesmerizing music and captivating grass dancing performances. Following this enriching experience, the students dispersed into groups and immersed themselves in a variety of engaging stations. From traditional games and rock painting to Inuit cultural learning, archery, and smudging, each station offered unique opportunities for community building, learning, and fun-filled games. The Redwater School extends a special thank you to the Fort Saskatchewan Multicultural Association for their invaluable support in connecting them with the esteemed guests, Curt Young and Goota Desmarais, who made the day truly extraordinary.
