On Sunday, July 31, the Kinette Club of Smoky Lake hosted its third annual BBQ, beer gardens and fundraiser for all to join. The event was hosted at the spray park and heritage park at 4612-54 Avenue in Smoky Lake. Smiles and laughs were shared within the community over hamburgers, hotdogs, and other snacks.
Ashley Losier Kinette Club President “We have built a park in town, helped with the spray park and community events. Our motto is we serve the community’s greatest need! So, with these beer gardens, we are hoping to get enough money to go towards a new community skate park!”
The event followed the rodeo theme, as one happened in town over the same weekend. The club had a mechanical bull set up; all were excited to attempt for the eight seconds. Live music from The Gold Wedding Band blasted through the town as guests cheered and hollered. Many faces were excited waiting for the cash raffle draws, which included prizes up to 2500 dollars and some donated prizes. The end of the evening was enjoyed with beautiful fireworks that lit the whole sky and could be seen anywhere in town.
Losier exclaimed, “It has been a fantastic evening out, and I appreciate our community and their donations! A huge thank you to all the ladies in the Kinette Club and a thank you to the husbands as well. Without everyone’s hard work and help, this event wouldn’t have been such a success! We can’t wait to host again next year!
