The Redwater Golf Club Ladies League has wrapped up its 2026 season,
celebrating another year of friendship, competition and plenty of time on the
course.
The league saw more than 60 women participate throughout the season, with an
average of 30 to 40 ladies taking part each Thursday.
Even a rainy summer couldn’t keep the golfers away.
“Our highlight for the 2026 season was that even though with the rainy summer,
we had record numbers week to week,” said Jaydin Hood, who helps organize
the league. “Our ladies that come out are committed to showing up and
participating, even when it means we have to wear rubber boots.”
The league offers weekly games and competitions designed to make each round
a little more fun, with prizes awarded to winners as well as those simply coming
out and enjoying themselves.
“You don’t always have to be a good golfer to win,” Hood said. “We welcome all
skill levels.”
The season champion is determined through an 18-hole stroke-play tournament
held on the second weekend of September. After completing 18 holes, the player
with the lowest score takes home the championship trophy.
The season officially wrapped up with a wind-up event, where 24 ladies braved
the chilly temperatures to participate and celebrate another successful year
together.
Hood encourages women who may be interested in joining the league next
season not to worry if they are new to golf.
“You don’t have to be an experienced golfer — we welcome all skill levels,” she
said. “Whether you’re an experienced golfer or new to the sport, it’s a great way
to get out, meet new people, improve your game and have some fun along the
fairway.”
She also said women shouldn’t be nervous about joining on their own.
“You’ll find a welcoming group of women who are there to enjoy the game and
make connections,” Hood said.
The Redwater Golf Club Ladies League runs Thursdays from 3 to 7 p.m. during
the golf season.
