Newbrook Public Library was thrilled to receive an official letter from Alberta Blue
Cross announcing their selection as a recipient of a $1,000 award from the esteemed
Community Wellbeing Grant Program. Out of hundreds of nominations from various
organizations across the province, Newbrook Public Library stood out for its remarkable
initiatives that significantly enhance community life. Their unwavering dedication not
only enriches the town of Newbrook but also contributes positively to the broader
Alberta community.
This library goes beyond the conventional expectations of a public library; it
serves as a hub for residents and visitors alike. Activities such as weekly Thursday
lunch specials, movie nights, game days, craft and science days for kids, all foster
community engagement and create a welcoming environment for all ages. The
Community Wellbeing Grant Program is committed to supporting organizations that
actively promote health and well-being, focusing on the physical, mental, and social
wellness of Albertans. By selecting 50 organizations that exemplify these values, the
program honours Alberta Blue Cross’s longstanding commitment to giving back to the
communities they serve.
Newbrook Public Library plans to utilize this generous grant to enhance their
intergenerational programming, which aims to bridge the gap between different age
groups in the community. Upcoming initiatives include purchasing a wider variety of
board games to host family game nights, pairing younger participants with experienced
older players to teach them traditional games like cribbage, and exploring the
development of memory kits designed for individuals facing the early onset of
Alzheimer’s disease. With these exciting new programs on the horizon, Newbrook
Public Library encourages everyone to stay tuned for further announcements and
details about how they can participate in these enriching activities.
