The Smoky Lake Youth Council celebrated Valentine’s Day a little early this year
by hosting an enchanting event on February 12. The team transformed the Smoky Lake
Drop-In Centre into a stunning oasis, adorned with a dazzling array of pink and red
decorations that included heart-shaped balloons, glittering streamers, and twinkling fairy
lights. The dance floor was ready, with a vibrant disco ball casting colorful patterns
across the room, the tables beautifully set with festive tablecloths and centerpieces, and
an enticing spread of snacks prepared to satisfy. The council pulled out all the stops to
ensure that local youth had a welcoming space to celebrate the spirit of Valentine’s,
whether they were coupled up, flying solo, or enjoying quality time with friends.
With an affordable admission fee of just $2, guests had entry into a wonderful
evening full of all thing’s food, fun and festivity. The atmosphere was electric as
everyone danced the night away to a carefully curated playlist filling the Drop-In Centre
with an infectious energy that resonated between the walls and encouraged everyone to
hit the dance floor and let loose.
In addition to dancing, the Valentine’s party had a great selection of games that
inspired friendly rivalries. For those with a more competitive spirit, the atmosphere was
charged with anticipation, leading to some spirited contests. Attendees enjoyed group
activities and games that kept the crowd in high spirits. They were also treated to an
enticing menu of non-alcoholic mocktails, creatively crafted as something a little special
and a lot delightful to elevate the night. Laughter and excitement echoed off the walls,
creating a joyful ambiance that was nothing short of infectious, making this early
Valentine’s celebration an unforgettable evening.
The Smoky Lake Youth Council expressed their satisfaction, stating, “It went
great! We had an amazing turnout, and everyone had fun and enjoyed themselves and
the mocktails. The Youth Council is thankful to have such a great team and a good
turnout.” Kudos to the Smoky Lake Youth Council for organizing such a fantastic
celebration that provided a remarkable night for the youth of Smoky Lake!
