Thorhild Minor Hockey rings in the new year

By Brandie Majeau
Thorhild Minor Hockey ushered in the new year with a fun-filled evening. For the
first time, they hosted a New Year’s Eve celebration, drawing in approximately 350
guests eager to partake in the festivities. The evening unfolded with a delightful blend of
a sumptuous dinner and lively dance party, made possible by the incredible generosity
of local sponsors who helped to significantly lower ticket prices, allowing an affordable
evening for all families.
As guests arrived, the tantalizing aroma of skillfully prepared dishes wafted
through the air, courtesy of Zina’s Catering, who provided a mouthwatering feast to kick
off the night. The atmosphere buzzed with excitement, and a variety of raffles and silent
auction items tempted guests to engage in supporting Thorhild Minor Hockey with a
chance to win.
Boomtown DJ Service took over the dance floor, spinning infectious tunes that
had both kids and adults alike dancing with abandon throughout the night. The
celebration was made extra special with two balloon drops, allowing the younger
attendees to kick off their New Year’s festivities early at 10 PM; the night never lost
momentum as the actual midnight celebration culminated with the second drop.
From the moment the music began until the last song signaled the close of the
evening, the dance floor overflowed with swirling energy. It was a night filled with smiles,
laughter, and revelry, such an event setting the bar high as Thorhild Minor Hockey
welcomed the new year.
As the celebration drew close, the atmosphere buzzed with an overwhelming
sense of joy and appreciation. Guests shared their thoughts, expressing how much they
cherished the chance to take a well-deserved break after the whirlwind of the holiday
season. With winter often feeling quiet and uneventful, this gathering provided a much-
needed opportunity to get out of the house and connect.
The New Year’s Eve dinner and dance brought attendees from every corner of
the county and beyond. The satisfied murmurs echoed through the hall. Plans are
already underway for this event to blossom into an annual tradition, with hopes that it
will continue to grow and evolve, bringing even more people together in the years to
come.
Thorhild Minor Hockey thanks every family and every volunteer for pulling
together to make the evening what it was and the following sponsors for making it all
possible and affordable: Bayer Crop Sciences, Moose Wood Acres, Botox Cabin,
Richardson Pioneer, ATB-Thorhild, MCSnet, Travis and Wendy Dowhan, Caveman

Rentals, Connect Energy Services, Thorhild Ag Society, Back Country Welding, Nutrien,
Croswell Buffalo, Ian and Janine Paly, Thorhild County, and M.Rusinko and Sons.
