The Flower Barn, nestled in the town of Smoky Lake, began its journey
approximately four and a half years ago. In the early days of the Covid pandemic,
Louilla Tychkowsky and her daughter Ebbeney embarked on a venture, launching a
mobile flower delivery service from the comfort of their home. With creativity and
passion, they crafted stunning, one-of-a-kind floral arrangements that brought a touch of
beauty and joy to their customers, no matter where they were needed.
As the world gradually emerged from the shadows of the pandemic, Louilla and
Ebbeney recognized a growing desire among their loyal customers for personal
connection. They looked to meet the very people who had supported their blossoming
business during such uncertain times, eager to build relationships and share in the joy
of their exquisite floral creations.
It all began with a delightful idea to create a Christmas pop-up store, which took
root in Smoky Lake in 2022. What started as a six-week venture leading up to the
holiday season quickly transformed into a beloved fixture that never left the community.
Though the location of The Flower Barn has shifted over time, its commitment to Smoky
Lake remains steadfast.
At The Flower Barn, the duo Louilla and Ebbeney put their creativity and passion
into every arrangement, ensuring each creation is a masterpiece. They source fresh
flowers weekly, allowing their designs to reflect the beauty of the seasons. Additionally,
they provide a stunning collection of distinctive house plants, adding an element of
charm and interest to any home. Their innovative spirit drives them to keep things fresh
and exciting, encouraging loyal customers to return time and again.
The shop caters to a variety of occasions, from weddings to funerals, ensuring
that every need is met with grace and care. Beyond the enchanting floral arrangements,
The Flower Barn offers an enticing selection of locally crafted Wick Witch candles that
fill any space with warm, inviting scents, and a charming assortment of silk flowers that
never fade. In an exciting partnership, The Flower Barn will showcase Jolene’s Tea from
Jolene’s Tea House in Banff. Moreover, for the animal lovers, there are Barn
Bites—wholesome, locally made treats created by Ebbeney Tychkowsky, for barnyard
companions—and a curated selection of healthy dog treats, perfect for pampering furry
friends.
In light of the ongoing Canada Post strike hindering online shopping options,
supporting local businesses has become more important than ever. Take a moment to
explore the gems and treasures nestled within the community, all just beyond the front
door. This winter, consider gifting someone a burst of color and life in the form of a
stunning, living arrangement that brings a breath of fresh air to any space.
