Redwater Discovery Days was a vibrant weekend, offering a diverse range of
activities and entertainment. The excitement kicked off with the highly anticipated
annual bench show and ball tournament on Friday, August 16th, followed by an outdoor
movie at Redwater School as the sun dipped below the horizon. The thrill continued to
mount on August 17th, with a spectacular parade that seemed to be of superhero
proportions.
Throughout the day, Discovery Days spread its excitement across the entire
town, drawing guests from far and wide to join in the fun. Saturday was a taste for the
senses, a morning pancake breakfast, hot dog and sandwich & pie sales at the Pioneer
Club, a Legion BBQ Supper, and a diverse selection of food vendors offering everything
from ice cream to mini donuts. The town was alive with music and the tantalizing aroma
of grills firing up, creating a festive atmosphere.
The sounds of laughter and splashing from the free swim event at Redwater’s
outdoor pool echoed through the streets, mingling with the buzz of activity at the Show
& Shine car event. Meanwhile, the Redwater School grounds buzzed with the energy of
the ball tournament, featuring not only competitive sports but also an array of inflatable
bouncy castles, obstacle courses, the iPlay Game Theater, a petting zoo, musical
performances, and the incredible talents of children’s entertainers and balloon twisters.
Additionally, AARCS (Alberta Animal Rescue Crew Society) set up a booth to educate
and engage visitors about their services while providing a chance to meet and
potentially adopt some furry companions.
The Saturday festivities culminated in a breathtaking fireworks display, a sight
that left everyone in awe. Even as the ball tournament concluded on Sunday, the entire
weekend was a highly anticipated event that certainly lived up to expectations. The
Redwater & District Agricultural Society orchestrated a remarkable weekend, and
recognition was extended to the event’s sponsors and the dedicated volunteers who made Discovery Days a truly memorable experience.
