The Thorhild & District Historical Society & Museum is thrilled to announce the
launch of an exciting interactive program for the summer of 2024. The goal is to raise
awareness about the organization, highlight our incredible offerings, and uncover some
historical mysteries. Thorhild Museum is home to a fascinating collection of artifacts and
photos that capture the vibrant rural history of Thorhild and the surrounding area. They often rely on the generous donations of local families to preserve and display these
artifacts. Many of these donations include photographs, some of which are currently
unidentified and undated, adding an air of mystery to our collection.
Through a campaign utilizing social media, Thorhild & District Historical Society &
Museum begs the question, “Do you know who this might be?” The campaign has
gained much traction since the first photos appeared on their Facebook page. The
result is that many visitors stop by to have a closer look or share the images, asking
family and friends, “Would your grandmother know who this is?” It has been a fun and
engaging program that reached out to a community and has brought the community
together in a mission to identify past families and friends that shaped this area. With the
help of visitors, people are not just providing names to faces; they are helping preserve
local history and enrich the understanding of people who came before. Check out the
museum’s Facebook page or stop in person to have a look at the unidentified photos
and historical collections. Maybe a face in a photo will catch your eye.
