The Annual Thorhild & District Agricultural Society and Thorhild County Trade Show and Market was a vibrant and diverse gathering that captivated the interest of both the local community and out-of-town visitors. The Thorhild Agriplex was a hub of activity, offering a full day of engaging and diverse activities for people of all ages. This year’s event left a lasting impression with the introduction of a Job Fair, a thoughtful initiative coordinated by the Redwater Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber’s services, including resume printing and job search assistance, were invaluable to those seeking employment opportunities in the area.
The Trade Show offered various opportunities to learn about different businesses and organizations within the area and about volunteer opportunities for various not-for-profits. Representatives also explained how to gain education through employment, such as Alberta Health Services and the Health Care Aide Training Program. Westlock Employment Services was also in attendance and gave would-be employees a great start for their job hunt, featuring free assistance with resumes, cover letters, job boards, interview preparation, and access to Wi-Fi, computers, and printers.
The 2024 Trade Show included information sessions and demonstrations on barrel racing and motocross. These sessions provided an opportunity to learn about how to get involved and where to find clubs and organizations to join. The market tables were filled with various products, trinkets, jewelry, artwork, 3D-printed creations, food items, and more. Visitors had the chance to win door prizes and participate in hands-on learning, many walking away with newfound information. The historical societies and sites offered a glimpse into local history, and the not-for-profits highlighted philanthropic work and membership opportunities for locals. There was indeed something for everyone.
The Thorhild Agricultural Society extends its heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated volunteers whose unwavering commitment ensured the trade show’s success. They would also like to express their appreciation to the organizations and businesses for their devoted efforts in providing valuable and informative experiences to all the visitors.
