The Radway Lions Club is embarking on a new initiative aimed at making a community
impact and reducing battery waste within landfills. The “Make a Positive Impact Battery
Recycling” project encourages community members to recycle their household batteries
in one of their receptacles located throughout Thorhild County. Currently, these
receptacles can be found at Thorhild Grocery or Thorhild Hardware locations. The
Radway Lions Club thanks North Corridor Co-op for becoming their first community
partner. Recycling batteries can help prevent harmful chemicals from leaching into the
soil and water, reducing the environmental impact.
Radway Lions consider safety as a top priority. To ensure everyone’s safety and reduce
potential risks of fire, they kindly ask that all battery ends are taped or individually
bagged before depositing them in the recycling receptacles. They have taken extra
precautions by securing a roll of masking tape to each receptacle, making it as
convenient as possible for individuals to adhere to this safety measure.
The Radway Lions Club believes that the success of this initiative lies in a collective
effort. If any organization shares the vision for a cleaner world and is interested in
partnering to become a collection site, they are warmly invited to contact
radwaylionsclub@gmail.com. The Radway Lions encourage all individuals to join them
on this important initiative. Individual participation is crucial in expanding the reach of
this battery recycling project and making a positive impact on the environment.
