H. A. Kostash School was thrilled to welcome Jesse Lipscombe for a special
visit. The school community had the honor and privilege of engaging in insightful
dialogue and learning about Lipscombe’s passion project, the #MakeItAwkward
Campaign. It was a truly inspiring and educational opportunity for everyone involved.
Jesse Lipscome is an incredibly talented and versatile individual, and his
influence makes him a powerhouse in Canada. As an entrepreneur, diversity advocate,
and actor, he has played a significant role in promoting diversity education in major
corporations and schools throughout North America. His impactful #MakeItAwkward
campaign gained widespread attention for urging Canadians to stand up against bigotry
and bullying, aiming to combat racism, misogyny, homophobia, and hatred.
H.A. Kostash School commented on Lipscome: “His remarkable knack for
simplifying complex matters and fostering a nurturing environment where students are
encouraged to express themselves authentically was truly exceptional.” They stressed
the significance of engaging in challenging discussions and of persisting in offering
assistance and driving change, not just within the educational environment, but also in
the broader community and beyond. These dialogues have the power to create
profound and widespread impacts.
Lipscome is a captivating and influential presence on stage, possessing the
remarkable ability to engage and inspire young audiences with his vibrant and impactful
communication style. In addition to his extensive travels and efforts to make a positive
impact on the world, Lipscome continues to captivate and connect with viewers through
his outstanding performances in film and television, including Netflix’s Black Summer
and My Life with the Walter Boys.
H.A. Kostash was honored and grateful to have been given the opportunity by
Smoky Lake FCSS and the Aspen View Family School Liaison Program to meet an
extraordinary individual. The experience of meeting Jesse Lipscome was truly
unforgettable and left a lasting impact.
