The Town of Smoky Lake was a whirlwind of excitement this past Family Day long
weekend as eight teams came out to participate in the Smoky Lake Agricultural Society’s annual
charity hockey tournament. Adoring fans filled the seats, cheering and hollering as each team
showed off exceptional skills and adeptness at the all-time great Canadian sport. Over the
course of the three-day weekend, teams from various communities competed in a friendly
competition to support the Smoky Lake Ag Society. As the tournament progressed and teams
were slowly eliminated, the Thorhild Clowns emerged the victorious champions. The Ag Society
expressed its gratitude to all the players for dedicating a weekend to an annual fundraiser that
supports the upkeep and maintenance of the community agricomplex.
In addition to the hockey charity tournament, Saturday night featured an evening of
food, music, and togetherness as guests experienced a mouthwatering dinner and exceptional
show featuring none other than Alberta’s own, Drew Gregory. With talent and passion, Gregory
coaxed the crowd onto the dance floor and kept them hopping all night. Gregory’s fans cheered
and sang along, smiling wide as Drew Gregory put on an exuberant and energetic performance,
holding the crowd, and connecting with the audience until the very end of his show. His
charisma was electric as he posed with the crowd for countless photos and made himself a part
of the small community family and their annual charity event.
The Smoky Lake Agricultural Society extends its wholehearted thanks to the many
volunteers who worked in front and behind the scenes to ensure the tournament and dance
went off without a hitch. They continue to express their thanks to all the event sponsors as well
as Drew Gregory for putting on such a fantastic and memorable show.
