The Town of Redwater was bursting with holiday merriment as the innumerable hours spent on
homes and public spaces took shape and revealed themselves in all their seasonal glory for the annual
Kris Kringle Mingle, Christmas Market, Festival of Trees, and community light-up. On the evening of
December 1, Pembina Place was transformed into an extraordinary wonderland of Christmas
enchantment. Christmas trees sparkled, and larger-than-life festive décor radiated a welcoming glow,
and Mr. and Mrs. Claus had both taken time from their busy schedules to attend.
The excitement and wonderful chaos of the Kris Kringle Mingle surpassed the enthusiasm and
bustle of even Santa’s own toy workshop. Visitors circulated between a myriad of activities and games.
Not only were there cookie decorating stations and tree ornament crafts, but guests could also take a
turn in the holiday photo booth, get their face painted, enjoy live entertainment, and take in the mild
evening outdoors, cozied up by crackling fires enjoying roasted treats, popcorn, and other
complementary delights to warm the soul.
Celebrations continued through December 2. Redwater & District Ag Society held their annual
craft and bake sale along with the continuation of the Festival of Trees. A steady stream of people took
in the wonderful fares of the market throughout the day. As the hours progressed, daylight slid into a
burst of pinkish hues and then faded into darkness. With this slide into darkness, residents in the Town
of Redwater dazzled their neighbors and visitors with their dedication and talent, transforming their
homes and yards into stunning displays. Each strand of lights, whether one of fifty was hung, has
contributed to the special kind of something that has the ability to bring back childhood memories and
wonderment. Something so magical that it causes pause and filters into the heart, bringing a smile to
the lips and a twinkle in the eye.
Redwater radiated community and holiday spirit. Over 700 guests attended the holiday mingle,
and this was only made possible by their sponsors and volunteers. There is a huge thank you to all of
these groups, businesses, organizations, and individuals for their participation in making these events
possible and the happiness they bring to the community during the holiday season and all year round.
