A buzz of excitement was tangible as you stepped through the doors of Pembina Place.
It had been nearly twenty years since Redwater hosted a Trade Show. Nicole Krill, president of
Redwater & District Chamber of Commerce, talked about reaching out to the Ag Society to host
a Trade Show and Farmer’s Market during the annual celebration of Redwater’s Discovery
Days. The process began back in January, a formal proposal was brought before the
Agricultural Society and the Town of Redwater. With permission to go forward and use of the
arena granted, Krill and her team went to work. “I can’t say that there weren’t any hiccups
along the way, but the end result was phenomenal,” stated Krill.
The Trade Show began the evening of Aug. 18 and ran again during the day of Aug. 19.
Market vendors presented their goods. An extensive variety was on display…giftware, clothing,
candy, jewelry, knitting, meats, and purses. There was truly something for everyone who
stepped through the doors. Attendants were also encouraged to chat with the many different
services in their community. The local food bank, local realtors, GFL Environmental, bank
services, the Town of Redwater, Roseridge Waste Management and many more organizations
invited guests to question and discuss information pertaining to their services as well as create
awareness in the community. Tables were creatively displayed, and vendors and organizations
alike expressed their desire and excitement to be a part of this incredible experience. The
Trade Show and Farmer’s Market created an amazing atmosphere to connect, communicate
and inform the public.
The event was well received. With close to twenty years since the last trade show, the
last eight months of planning, chaos and time commitment paid off. Nicole Krill articulated that
over “1000 people came through the arena to check out the locally made products, local
organizations and businesses in our area.” Redwater & District Chamber of Commerce is very
grateful for the partnership and sponsorship of the Redwater Agricultural Society, they also
express a huge appreciation for all the vendors, their commitment and dedication were
evident. After the huge success of the trade show, there is hope this will become an annual
event.
