Brandie Majeau
Toddlers and their parents had a unique opportunity offer by Thorhild Swimming Pool
during the week of June 19-23. Each day from 2:30pm-3:30pm the pool offered a parent/tot
drop-in session for $2. These sessions provided the chance to work with a lifeguard and get
their little one comfortable in the water. They offered basic water safety and some free swim
time all with one goal in mind, create confidence in little swimmers as they begin their journey
into the world of water.
Lifeguards jumped in the pool to join the pairs and filled the air with giggles and silly
songs as they coached parents on how to develop security in dipping their heads into the water,
playing with a variety of water toys and learning to trust their parents to hold them as they
learned how to float. The talented lifeguards and junior lifeguards provided amazing support
families that had a chance to show up and take advantage of these well-informed sessions.
Thorhild Swimming Pool welcomes several new members to their lifeguarding team this
summer. “I’m excited!” stated one new member of the team. The group collectively expressed
their excitement of the new staff and are looking forward to a hot summer. They also
mentioned that they are working to create more drop-in sessions for July and August. Details
about the pool schedule and information about swimming lessons, activities and free swims can
be found on the Thorhild County website. The staff at Thorhild Swimming Pool are also always
happy to answer a phone call and assist in any inquiries.
