Rain clouds threatened but didn’t let loose any downpours during the 40th birthday celebrations at Ochre Park School on Thursday, June 15.
“On the day of the anniversary, February 17, staff and students got together to enjoy cupcakes however, we felt passionately about creating an event for past and present staff and students to come together to reconnect and take a walk down memory lane,” shared Tarra Larson, a current teacher at the school who helped put the event together along with Patty Moskal, Calvin Harris and Jennifer Geleta.
The soccer fields adjacent to the school were filled with the sounds of horns and sirens as students and community members mingled among the vehicles on display. The Touch-A-Truck part of the event showcased numerous large and small vehicles from businesses. Everyone was welcome to climb inside and outside and get to learn more about the machines and their uses.
Inside the school, there were plenty of activities to keep the kids entertained. Face painting was a huge hit, with a lineup the entire time. Redwater HYPE provided activities and snacks, and there was a mini golf course designed by the third grade class.
For the adults, class photos were on display, as were albums filled with photos and articles from the school’s 40 years.
