Thorhild County Family Centre is inviting community members to join them every Tuesday and Thursday for the month of May to “build personal resiliency and invest in your physical and emotional well-being.” The Wellness Walk that has been organized begins at the Thorhild Library at 2 p.m. on these days. For the first walk on May 2, a handful of participants showed up to see what it was all about. The conversations that emerge as they walk together are not predetermined but focus on individuals’ mental health and what is on their minds. They spoke of work/life/school balances, grieving, gender diversity, volunteering, etc. The goal is not to follow a structured program but to offer a safe place to connect, get a bit of physical exercise, and allow yourself to speak about issues that might be weighing on your mind.
