On April 1st the Rodway Agricultural Society held its Easter Market. The event boasted 63 tables of products being offered by 41 vendors. Neil Halun commented that the market has been sold out for weeks, there was a waiting list of vendors hoping for a cancellation and one such vendor got lucky enough to be called at 10 p.m. the night before because of a last-minute cancellation. He continued that the “vendors want to be here” and that they know it will always be very well attended.
In addition to the market, guests were also welcome to enjoy a drink at the beer gardens or grab a bite to eat at the concession. There were also raffle tickets available. This is a huge fundraiser for the Radway Agricultural Society and a chance to win a brand new zero-turn mower and all-season gazebo. Anyone interested can still purchase tickets until June through any member of the Radway Ag Society. Hosts were also surprised to see a bus arrive from the Redwater Senior’s home and a tour bus. People commented that they were unsure where it came from but were very pleased that a tour bus of supporters stopped in. Ernie Halun, president of the Radway and Area Historical Archives Association, also took some time out of the afternoon to present the Radway Lion’s Club with a monetary donation to go towards new Christmas lights. The current Christmas lights are estimated to be about 40 years old.
The Radway markets began just before the pandemic, about 4 years ago, and managed to continue through most of the restrictions because they were usually held outdoors. And it just keeps getting bigger. Everyone always seems to have a good time, as it was evident by the packed hall of shoppers and socializers. Community members who missed out on the fun are reminded to stop by June 10 and 11 for their trade show and to watch their Facebook page for all upcoming events.
