Métis Crossing has had many activities throughout 2022, the latest one being the Christmas Party on December 10. Visitors were welcomed with a variety of activities indoors: every table had an activity, from gingerbread house making, and cookie baking to bingo and a variety of crafts. Live music entertained the public while people enjoyed their free lunch, and it was well received, as it was a full house. Santa was wandering around the facility, visiting with everyone, especially the kids. Métis Crossing is a large facility, and every opportunity was taken to entertain the public outside as well: horse and wagon rides were offered ongoing, and wagons were ongoing full. After the ride, which could be a bit on the chilly side, a person could warm up at the campfire. There was an opportunity for tobogganing, snowshoeing and skating. The facility in itself is worth a visit, with many Métis cultural artifacts on display, where there are handmade jackets, the Métis sash, jewellery and other ornaments. The in-house store has these artifacts on offer and is well worth a visit. Anyone looking to ski or snowshoe this winter, Métis Crossing is an excellent place to go to with five different trails, plus a walking-only loop, on 688 acres of ancestral historic land with horses, buffalo and elk. Métis Crossing also offers gathering packages for holiday gatherings. This is a unique cultural hub that the region may be proud of. Métis Crossing is located on the Victoria Trail, off highway 855 on the North Saskatchewan river. They also have a Facebook page with more information.
