Pumpkin carving extravaganza at Redwater School

Redwater HYPE and Redwater School hosted another great community event at the Redwater School gym on October 25 from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm. The event hosted students and any community members who wanted to partake in the afternoon. Guests who attended were offered free pumpkins to take home after they were carved.

Around 70 people came together, full of joy and excitement, as they joined Redwater HYPE and the Redwater School in the fun excursion and carved the spookiest or funniest faces they could. The gym was filled with the smell of pumpkin, and all the tables and floors had been covered with pumpkin insides and seeds. Everyone began the extravaganza by grabbing a pumpkin, some children racing to the biggest and best ones. Although serrated pumpkin knives and other tools had been provided, many attendees brought their own tools to assist with their seasonal fun pumpkin carving.  Some of the favourite techniques used were free-handed carving, as many people let their creativity flow through their hands. Others meticulously drew their whole design on the pumpkin and carefully carved it out.

Leftover pumpkins were available at the Redwater School and were offered to the public in exchange for a foodbank donation. Many children and adults who attended the event had their hands filled with their creative carvings, enormous smiles across their faces, and happiness in their eyes after what was a fantastic, fun-filled afternoon.

Redwater HYPE said, “The pumpkin extravaganza was a spooktacular event! Thank you to everyone that joined us to carve pumpkins!”
