Thorhild Fun Hockey begins on October 21 at 15 7 Avenue in Thorhild. Keeping in theme with Fun Team Alberta, the focus of Thorhild Fun Hockey is having fun in hockey, welcoming all ages of players and experience levels along with volunteers. Children will be encouraged to love the team sport and enjoy engaging with coaches and peers. The group focuses on teaching individuals, developing skills, and working with teammates. Children will be able to practice once a week, play many games and play in a tournament.
Teams include Big Team, where all players are welcome, ages 13 and up, and have any experience level; enthusiasm is the only requirement focusing on skill, player development, and team dynamics. Middle Team focuses on all the team dynamics with children ages nine to twelve. Little Team is for the youngest players, ages four to eight; the focus is on the introduction to hockey. They are paying extensive attention to the fundamentals and working on skill development.
Volunteers are the group’s most valuable resource, without their commitment to the program and help bring the sport to the community. Thorhild Fun Hockey welcomes all volunteers that complete a Vulnerable Sector Check, a check which is required once every three years. The volunteer positions needed are coaches, team managers, referee coordinators, jersey managers, year-end party coordinators, and team picture coordinators.
The Team at Thorhild Fun Hockey said, “At the end of the season, we host a parent versus kid game with our year-end party, which our players are always enthusiastic about! We look forward to welcoming you and your family this season!” For more information on the hockey season or to sign up for volunteering, visit http://register.funteamalberta.com or email thorhildfunhockey@gmail.com
