Hundreds of residents decided to pitch in and tidy Redwater during a town-wide clean-up challenge on May 4. The annual initiative was directed by the Town of Redwater Community Services in partnership with local schools and organizations.
“We’re so thankful for our partners in the industries around us and how much they care about our community as much as we do,” said Town Councillor Dwayne Spicer.
“It’s always an ongoing thing, picking up the litter, finding a garbage can, and throwing things in it. It’s just a simple little act rather than dropping it on the ground. And if you see something that you didn’t throw there, pick it up anyway,” said Spicer.
More than 500 volunteers participated in the Redwater town-wide clean-up, according to Jennifer Edworthy, Community Services Supervisor. That included students, staff and volunteers from Redwater School and Ochre School who participated in the project.
“It’s nice to have companies like Inter Pipeline and Tim Hortons sponsor these community events,” said Edworthy. “Inter pipeline provided all the hot dogs for the community. The local Tim Hortons provided coffee, hot chocolate and Tim Bits this morning when people came to pick up bags and packages.”
